Sharing Thailand’s Forestry Achievements on the Global Stage
Prof. Dr. Yongyut Trisurat, Department of Forest Biology, who was invited to attend the 61st International Tropical Timber Council (ITTC) held in Panama City, Panama, from 27–31 October 2025.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Yongyut presented the outcomes of two projects:
- Promotion of Sustainable Domestic Consumption of Wood Products in Thailand (on behalf of Assist. Prof. Dr. Wirongrong Duangjai), and
- Strengthening Surveillance and Monitoring to Tackle the Surge in Forest Loss and Land Degradation Induced by Intensifying Conflict in Thailand’s Border Areas (on behalf of Assist. Prof. Dr. Chakrit Na Takuathung),
both funded by Japan
.
He also presented progress on the project
Promoting Quality Timber Production in Smallholder and Community-based Teak and Other Valuable Species Plantations in the Tropics,
supported Germany
.
Prof. Dr. Yongyut serves as the Regional Project Manager, coordinating with representatives from six participating countries — Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam in the Asia-Pacific region, and Togo in West Africa
